Terms
Last updated June 2026
Quiet Island is a small workshop based in Wicklow, Ireland. Every piece is made to order, by hand. These are the plain-English terms that apply when you order or commission a piece.
Who you're dealing with
Quiet Island is a trading name of a sole-trader workshop in Co. Wicklow, Ireland. Contact: hello@quietisland.ie.
How an order works
- You reserve a piece (batch order) or send an enquiry (commission).
- For batch pieces, the deposit is taken via Stripe at the time of order. The balance is due before shipping.
- For commissions, we agree the spec and price in writing before any deposit is taken.
Lead times
Quoted lead times are honest estimates, not guarantees. Hand-building takes the time it takes. If something is going to slip, I'll tell you.
Materials & variation
Pieces are made from natural timber, hand-finished oils, and small-batch metal components. Grain, colour, and finish will vary between pieces — that's the point of buying something hand-made. The piece you receive will be in the spirit of the photographs, not a pixel-perfect copy.
Pricing & taxes
Prices are in EUR and include Irish VAT where applicable. Customers outside the EU may be liable for import duties and taxes in their own country — that's outside my control.
Shipping & delivery
EU shipping is by insured courier. Outside the EU, shipping is quoted per order. Title and risk pass to you on delivery.
Cancellations & returns
See the Refunds page. Briefly: stock items can be returned within 14 days; commissioned and bespoke pieces are non-refundable once production starts, in line with EU consumer law.
If something goes wrong
If a piece arrives damaged or faulty, email me within 14 days with photos and I'll fix it, replace it, or refund you. I want you happy with the piece — it has my name on it.
Liability
I stand behind the build. I won't be liable for indirect or consequential losses (e.g. lost listening time, room redecoration). Nothing here limits your statutory rights as a consumer under Irish law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Irish law and any disputes will be heard in the Irish courts.
Changes
I may update these terms occasionally. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it.
