§ Questions

Good to know.

Who designs and builds these?
Every Quiet Island piece is designed and built by me, David Magnier, in my workshop on the edge of Dublin & Wicklow in Ireland. No factory, no outsourcing. This is why we are doing things in batches and with great care.
What are they made from?
Solid European walnut, oak, or ash — local hardwoods where possible. Hand-oiled with Osmo Polyx; no spray finishes, no MDF anywhere, ever. Terminal plates and horn brackets are custom work, laser-cut locally, and I 3D print as much as I can here in the workshop — waveguide horns, components, and all kinds of other fun bits. Drivers and crossovers are sourced from the best providers. Good gear only.
How does the deposit work?
€750 reserves your pair and locks in your timber and cloth choices. The remaining €750 is due before dispatch, roughly 12 weeks later. Because each pair is built to your specification, the deposit is non-refundable once your build begins — full details on the refunds page. Card checkout is opening shortly; until then reservations are taken by email, confirmed in order received, with a secure payment link to follow.
Do you ship outside Ireland?
Yes — shipping can be arranged within Ireland and the EU. Drop a line to hello@quietisland.ie to work out the logistics before ordering, as it varies a lot between speaker sizes. Where possible I'll deliver sets by hand and help with setup — usually worth it to see the smiling face when the first track comes on.
What if something goes wrong?
If a piece arrives damaged or develops a fault that's down to the build, email within 14 days with photos and it gets repaired, replaced, or refunded — return shipping covered. These are built to last decades, and long-term repair and aftercare is part of the deal.
Can I commission something custom instead?
That's the heart of the workshop. One-off pairs, horns, sculptural pieces, full venue systems — it starts with a conversation about your room and your records. Start here.

Every Quiet Island piece starts the same way — a conversation about your room, your records, your eye. From there we sketch, agree, and build. Slow, on purpose.

I'm based in Wicklow but I love working with wonderful spaces and people all over. Send me a note about what you are thinking and we can go from there.
